FAQ's

This latest beauty revolution involves the careful application of individual lash hairs to each of your natural lashes, thus allowing your eyelashes to look naturally thick, voluminous and fuller!  This procedure should only be completed by technicians who have extensive experience in applying lash extensions to your eyes.

  • Your eyes must be free of any signs or symptoms of infection;
  • Your eyes have fully recovered from recent eye surgeries or procedures;
  • You are comfortable lying on your back for a few hours;
  • If you are pregnant and/or have medical conditions, in recovery from treatments, taking
    medications or have allergies: you have consulted your physician and have written approval to have eyelash extensions applied.

Considering the above items, if you do any of the following you are likely NOT a candidate for eyelash extensions

  • If you rub their eyes frequently – either from allergies or out of habit;
  • If you have highly sensitive skin – while we do carry a low-allergen adhesive, this service may cause more
    reactions in certain candidates;
  • If you are ill or currently have allergies. Please call to reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling better.
  • If your natural lashes are very curly. Extensions may lay in an unnatural direction when the natural lash begins to grow. Having very curly lashes will exacerbate irritation and your extensions will not last long.
  • If your natural eye shape is too deep inset or if your cheekbones are too high. When performing my service, I must place an eye pad over your lower lashes. If the eye pad rides too high, the procedure will be very uncomfortable for you. I have a few tricks – if I can manage to get the upper and lower lashes separated, I’ll certainly apply your extensions.
  • If you don’t have natural eyelashes. Extensions are placed on one natural lash at a time; and I need your natural lashes to be healthy and strong enough to support an extension. Unlike using other lash processes such as a strip or flares, we cannot create lashes where there aren’t any.
  • If you have an allergy to cyanoacrylate. Cyanoacrylate is the base of acrylic nail glue. Eyelash adhesive’s main ingredient is cyanoacrylate. How would you know if you had an allergy to cyanoacrylate? If you had an allergy to wearing acrylic nails or tips, you probably are allergic to cyanoacrylate.

Unfortunately, no! Lash extensions are placed on one natural lash at a time; and we need a minimum length of your natural lash to adhere the extension to. Your natural lashes must be strong and healthy enough to support an extension. Unlike using other lash processes such as a strip or flares, I cannot create lashes where there aren’t any.

*If you have any medical concerns please consult a health care professional to ensure that you would be an eligible candidate to partake in this procedure, as this can vary client-to-client, and cannot be determined by your Lash Technician.

How long they last depends on how well their cared for at home. This includes eye-make-up choices, cleansers, exposure, daily routine, age and genes. An individual eyelash hair’s life cycle is approximately 144-166 days before it sheds. Normally we loose 3-5 lashes per day. Most clients return after 2-3 weeks because they love a consistent, full lash line. Understanding our bodies are constantly regenerating and growing; each extension is placed on an individual natural eyelash hair to allow for this process to continue, without feeling pain or irritation.

If you decided not to return for a touch-up appointment, my adhesive would last approximately 5-7 weeks. (This is NOT advisable).

1-2 weeks after your touch-up appointment you will notice shedding. You will experience more shedding on the side you sleep on. You may also loose lashes towards the corner of your eye nearest to the bridge of your nose. There may be 3-5 individual hairs which have experienced a growth spurt and appear ¼” away from the lash line.

2-3 weeks after your touch-up appointment: More shedding on the outer and inner corners and thinning in the middle of the lash line where more lashes have shed. As your natural lashes grow out of the follicle, they naturally twist and turn. There may be an increased number of lashes, which had a growth spurt.

3-4 weeks after your touch-up appointment: Same as above, with larger “chunks” of lashes shedding from the middle and more lashes having grown out.

After 4 weeks it will no longer be considered a fill-in, please schedule an appointment for a full set!

 

To ensure the longevity of your brand new, sexy eyelash extensions, be sure to follow these useful instructions:

  • Refrain from perming/tinting your eyelashes or extensions before or after the extension application
  • Brush your lashes regularly using an appropriate eyelash brush
  • Refrain from getting your lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours
  • Refrain from using an eyelash curler to  your extensions
  • Refrain from rubbing your eyes or lashes when washing your face.  Clean around your eyes with a wash cloth
  • Refrain from pulling your lash extensions, as this will result in you removing your natural lashes as well!
  • Refrain from activities involving excessive heat such as sitting in a sauna or performing hot yoga
  • Refrain from using mascara – especially those which indicate “waterproof”
  • Do not try to remove the extensions on your own!  If you have any issues, please come back to us if you need them removed
  • Do no attempt to cut the extensions, as you may cut your own lashes in doing so!

  • Don’t forget to come in for touchups and refills!

 

The great news is that when applied correctly, eyelash extensions are not intended to damage your natural lashes.  Furthermore, we use a specialized lash adhesive which is formulated to be used specifically on human lash hair.  The adhesive is fast-drying and forms a soft matrix, which allows your eyelash extensions to maintain the flexibility and fluffiness of natural looking lashes!

We prefer to work with a fresh, clean set of natural eyelashes. Other technicians may not perform to our standard of care and they may not have our exceptional level of applications and use the same or similar premium products we will apply to achieve beautiful results.

If your current eyelash extensions are from another technician and/or you are past the 4-week mark between touch-up appointments, We will require you to have your current extensions completely removed. The removal process is approximately 15-45 minutes depending on your current extensions. Our removal process is free of charge when you confirm your new Full Set appointment with us. If you are in the unfortunate situation of having been a recipient of a eyelash extension disaster, We would love to help!

**If for any reason you would like your lashes removed, it is imperative that you return to us. This will avoid you potentially inflicting any damage to your natural lashes. This is especially because we use a specialized de-bonding agent that allows us to safely and gently remove your extensions without damaging your natural lashes!

 

Classic Lashes - With this set, thinner and softer eyelashes are used applying one on one or a few extensions on one natural lash. This set will make them look very natural

Hybrid Lashes - This set is a mix between Classic and Volume lashes. Hybridset can be a perfect option to achieve a light volume and wispy look.

Volume - This style of eyelash extensions will give a full dark and fluffy effect. Sittuble for everybody who likes a full and dark look (strip lash effect)

Volume Lashes

•Do not get your lashes tinted, permed, or curled. This will affect the quality of the extension adhering to your lashes.
•Please shower and wash your hair prior to the appointment as you will need to keep the lashes dry and away from all moisture for 24 hours.
•Please remove all traces of makeup using oil- free cleanser/makeup remover ect.
•Do not apply moisturizer/makeup ect. around the eye area prior to your appointment as the extensions will not adhere to your lashes. If a cleaning is needed you will be charged $15.
•Please do not wear makeup to the appointment (where possible). If you are coming to an appointment after work, makeup remover wipes are available for a small fee ($1 per wipe).
•Please make sure you have an umbrella with you on rainy days to avoid getting the lashes wet.
•Please do not wear contact lenses to the appointment or bring a container if you wish to take them out prior to the appointment.
•Unfortunately I do not allow children with you at your appointment as you are required to have your eyes closed and RELAX. Yes, that’s right you may fall asleep!
•Due to having put a deposit requirement in place for appointments, I require 24 hours notice if you wish to reschedule your appointment without having to forfeit your deposit. I will allow 1 rescheduling (within 4 weeks) of the original appointment. All changes (cancellations/rescheduling) made within 24 hours of the initial appointment will require another deposit. No exceptions.
•Please bring the correct amount of (remaining) cash with you to your appointment! I DO NOT have EFTPOS facilities.
•All available options for your treatment will be discussed at the time of your arrival, prior to commencing treatment. First time clients will receive a Free consultation Any questions or concerns can be raised at that point.
•Please be prepared to purchase the recommended after care products.

 

•Avoid showering for 24-48 hours after the procedure to prevent the lashes getting wet.
•Avoid facials, steam, saunas and swimming pools for the first 48 hours.
•If you will be having any treatments requiring lasers, chemical peels or hydroxyl treatments, inform the therapist that you have eyelash extensions.
•Avoid oil based products (cleansers, moisturizers, make-up), we have our own recommended after care products.
•Do not wear mascara, unless it is our unique brand made for eyelash extensions.
•Try not to touch or play with your new lashes.
•Do Not use heated eyelash curlers.
•Brush your lashes when required, especially after showers.
•Use only powdered, liquid or gel eyeliner.
•You will need to return to your therapist every 2-3 weeks for refills, if you wish to maintain your lashes.
•Please do not wear any make-up or moisturisers to your following refill appointments.
•You will provided with an after care email at the end of your first appointment

Studio Policy

Satisfaction Guarantee:

We want you to l-o-v-e your lashes when you walk out the door!  If, for whatever reason, you don’t – please let us know within 24 hours, and we’ll be happy to provide a corrective lashing appointment.  Corrective lash lift appointments must be completed within two weeks of the original appointment; corrective lash extension appointments must be completed within one week of the original appointment.

No Guests:

Please do not bring guests with you to your appointment.

Reserving Appointments:

We require a $25 non-refundable deposit to hold all appointments.  Your card will be charged at the time of booking and is used to hold your appointment. Deposits will be applied to your total fee. You may use a different card or cash to pay at checkout.You are required to book a Touch-Up appointment within 2-4 weeks, Appointments with more than 4 weeks lapse in between visits will require a new Full set of eyelash extensions! If you loose more than 50% lashes but have at least 30% left please book and extended Touch along with you regular Fill Appointment. If you have less than 30% of lashes left this will require a New Full Set.

 

Changes to Appointment Time:

To change your appointment time, you may either reschedule online (link provided in your confirmation email!), call us at 410.994.7300, or email us at douxluxurylashes@gmail.com and we can adjust it for you.  Please note that because Doux Luxury Lashes is by appointment only, we may not be able to accommodate all change requests.  Changes within 24 hours of appointment time will incur a late-change fee of $50.

Cancellations and No Shows:

Your appointments are very important to us.  We hold your appointment time just for you and ask that if you must cancel or reschedule any appointment, you please provide us with 24 hours notice.  This way, our stylist will be able to adjust the schedule accordingly, and we may be able to accommodate clients on our wait list  For no-show you will be charged the entire price of the service. Late cancellations / changes, will be charged $50 of the service to cover the time and opportunity cost for our Doux Luxury Lash stylist. If for some reason were unable to charge your card, you will receive an invoice. The fee must be paid before booking all future appointments. Clients who cancel within 24 hours or no-show 2 times will be required to pay in full for their appointments at the time of booking. We appreciate your understanding!

Late Arrivals:

If you’re running late, please let us know ASAP by calling 410.994.7300 or emailing us at douxluxurylashes@gmail.com.  Late arrivals for fill appointments may be serviced for the remainder of their allotted service time, as time and other bookings permit. Clients will be expected to pay the full service fee of the appointment originally scheduled.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a full set for clients who arrive up to 15 minutes late.  Clients who arrive more than 15 minutes late for a full set or long fill may have their appointment canceled.  Clients who arrive 15+ minutes late three times will be required to pay in full for their appointment at the time of booking.
